Thai Dance and Drama Troupe: On Tuesday, September 29th, a team of dancers and actors from Payap University in Chiang Mai, Thailand will be performing in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty Street, Meadville. The hour and a half program will start at 7:00 p.m. and feature dances from various regions of Thailand, as well as a traditional Thai melodrama (Likay) with English translation. The drama is a touching story about a former outlaw who was dramatically converted and became a Christian pastor in Thailand. We help to support the Rev. Rob Collins and his wife, Esther Wakeman who are directors of the Christian Communications Institute of the University and will be leading the seven professional dancers and actors. There will be a free will offering taken to help cover the travel expenses of the Troupe. Following the presentation, a period of fellowship will follow in Fellowship Hall with refreshments and a chance to interact with the Thai performers. The community is invited to experience the beauty and drama of Thai classical art.
